Dear CCS Community,
Today is an exciting day at CCS! We are celebrating the Graduation of our CCS Class of 2020! Our class of 2020 features 25 students from 11 different countries. A few joined CCS recently, while several are life-long CCS students. They hold a wide range of University acceptances including NYU, University of British Columbia, University of Edinburgh, Trinity College Dublin, Temple University, University of the Arts in London, University of Exeter, and others. An annual highlight of our Graduation is teachers sharing stories and memories about each student, a wonderful and unique CCS tradition!

This week we have also enjoyed showing our new Primary Campus and Sports Facilities to families. We will continue individual family tours over the next two weeks. Parents can sign up for a time via this Calendly link. While campus construction continues, it is complete enough to show you what learning spaces are like, our beautiful natural environment, play areas, and exciting new sports facilities.
Finally, next week we are excited about our Virtual Book Week and Virtual Year 6 Transition! While it is a unique time, we continue to find ways to get kids excited, connected, active, and supported as they progress and learn at CCS.

Extreme Readers Photo Contest: If you were able to grab your extreme reading photographs prior to the current isolation period – fantastic! If not, you can still catch an incredible photo at home or at a safe social distance in the great Bali outdoors (or wherever you may be located right now!).
Celebrity Readers: Primary classes can expect some special community guest readers integrated into their online lessons! We’re asking that all CCS Community members (students, teachers, parents, etc) get involved by posting their videos reading pictures books to our Book Week Flipgrid (check out the website link above for more details).
Isolation Readers Reviews: students and teachers will have a platform to share book reviews of either their favourite reads or what they’ve been able to read at home during this isolation period. Stay at home and read? A bookworm’s dream! Again – all CCS Community members are welcome to partake.
Book Cover Reenactments: check out this Instagram post by New York Public Library or search #BookCoverDouble to see examples of reenactments, and start planning your own! Email your creations to [email protected].
Book Character Dress-up Day (secondary only): You may have to be a bit more creative this year in your costume designing with limited materials – but I believe in you secondary students! You will have the opportunity to show off your creations during our virtual secondary assembly on Wednesday, June 3 at 1:30 PM.
“For this 2.6 challenge, I decided to bring my love for dance to an audience by teaching them a self-choreographed dance containing 26 dance moves in total. This dance is adapted for pretty much all levels if you put your heart into it and keep working. It is to the song ‘Physical’ by Dua Lipa, which is to me, such an uplifting and fun tune that I have never actually danced to! I tried to challenge myself by incorporating some jazz into this choreography and I think it turned out great. I thrive to inspire people into living a healthier life and finding what they truly love to do in life. I hope all the people who attempt this routine learn something from it and who knows, some might even discover they share a passion with me!” – Anouchka (Year 9MM)
[2.6 Challenge] 26 ways to get into a swimming pool by Nika (7SG) and her family. “Veronika (7SG) came up with the idea of 26 ways to get into a swimming pool. She created this very innovative and well-produced video of her challenge attempt. It’s great to see Veronika’s family involved in the video too! They’ve done lots of our PE challenges since home learning began, we really appreciate their humour and enthusiasm.” – Mr Steve.
“Looking at Indonesian traditional dances, Year 7 Indonesian studies are exploring different types of dances from the islands all over Indonesia. Sajojo is one of the most popular dances with its movements and song. They look at the costumes, face paints, some of them are trying the movements, some are trying to sing the lyric or even lip-sync! These are some performances from Year 7,” – Ms Rusmala.
