Hello CCS community,
Kindness Week was another fantastic reminder of how we value building our community and reinforce characteristics we see in our learners every day. A big shout out to Mr Punto who spent time flying around campus documenting the numerous activities during this whole school event. If you have a moment, please watch the video with your child and take time to discuss with them why kindness matters.
It was a busy week in our Primary Programme as we hosted a week-long professional development focused on literacy. Cailin Minor from Erin Kent Consulting joined our classrooms last week to help launch a workshop approach to writing and reading. The workshop approach empowers students as writers and readers while focusing on the transferable skills they need to grow. As we continue to enhance our literacy resources, literacy will be an area of professional focus for our teachers over the coming years. You will have received an envelope with CCS fundraiser cards from The Corner House who has partnered with us to raise funds to enhance our classroom libraries. Thank you for their support and we appreciate your support of this initiative.
Our Year 6 Showcase is in full swing with students taking action across the campus. The Year 6 Showcase groups with an environmental focus are launching a fundraising campaign to purchase and plant trees while another group has selected a location to start composting in our primary. Please remember to support a gender equality initiative by our Year 6 students on Thursday, March 5th when boys wear pink and girls wear blue. You will see a wide variety of surveys and initiatives coming out from our Year 6 Showcase groups and we appreciate your support with them. If you feel you would be able to act as an “expert” for any of our groups, please let me know the area you could support and I can get you connected with a group of eager inquirers.
Thank you for your patience as we move into the next level of our Flu Matrix and begin taking temperatures at the gates. Please remind your children to keep washing their hands!
Have a great week,
Mr. Ben
