Dear CCS Parents and Community,

It is hard to believe that we have less than 2 weeks of school remaining.  While students are doing Home/Online Learning. We continue to work on ways to stay connected and engaged.  This week we celebrated our Virtual Book Week.  Thanks to Ms. Urban for organizing, and everyone who contributed virtual “Mystery Readers” or book reviews.  Year 6 students also completed their Virtual Transition this week, including hearing from a number of current secondary students. We hope all Year 6s came away feeling excited and encouraged for Year 7 next year!  We also continue to support Cantina and Tom Hufnagel’s efforts to provide food for those in need in our community.  They continue providing lunches outside of Finns and welcome donations and support.

We are also in the final stages of planning and end-of-year celebration. We plan to finish the year with a “We Did It” Parade or “Drive-Bye”. This will be in the lower parking lot, with teachers and staff lined up around the outside and parents and students invited to “Parade” through as an in-person way to connect and celebrate the end of the year.  This will most likely be on Thursday 18 June, the last day of school. We will let you know more information soon, but we look forward to finding a unique but safe way to re-connect and celebrate completing this unusual school year!

Thank you everyone who joined us for our Virtual Graduation last week. It was a wonderful celebration of our IBDP graduates and showcased our values as a community.  Two students, Maile and Iris, gave speeches highlighting their experiences and the accomplishments of the group -well done, Iris and Maile!  Teacher speeches about individual students were again a highlight.  We hope to share a full video and also some of the speeches with everyone soon.

As usual, we will have a busy end to the year with upcoming virtual events, finalizing Reports, and winding down the year. Thank you everyone for your continued support through this unique season of home learning!

Athletics Carnival Week

“Athletics Carnival Week is coming in Week 10! All the fun and competition of a CCS Athletics Carnival, spread over the course of a week (during PE lessons), instead of during a single ‘off-timetable’ event.

All information will be sent to students and parents via the same channels as any other PE lesson this term. Students will be sent a host of ‘events’ to complete during lesson times. They will then submit videos of their attempts so that points totals can be tallied and the House Athletics Champions can be crowned. Students are also free to complete any events and submit their attempts in their free time if they wish.

More details will follow at the start of Week 10 via the usual channels as stated above. I hope students and parents are both looking forward to a week of fun and friendly competition!”

Mr Steve.

“Students from Year 11 had to research French traditional food and read about gastronomy. They made a top 3 of their fav dishes and then filter it down to 1 French speciality that they would actually try out at home and eat. They had to record themselves and make a video about it. Glafira made Clafoutis and Maya made a typical French sandwich with anchovies.”
