Dear CCS Parents and Community,
Semester 2 is well underway at CCS! It will be an exciting term with Swim Carnivals, Student-Led Conferences, the Secondary Production, BSSA Basketball, and important mock exams for our Year 11 and 13 students. We will also celebrate Nyepi at the end of term with our annual Ogoh Ogoh parade. Many Secondary students will also be participating in the Global Issues Network (GIN) Conference in Bangkok, Model United Nations (MUN) in Taiwan, and Duke of Edinburgh trips around Bali. We continue to work on enhancing the wide range of engaging and challenging experiences available to students.
These important activities contribute to our values of helping students engage as respectful Global Citizens. One of our goals this term is to further define Global Citizenship at CCS and how we approach it with activities, events, and our curriculum. We are considering the “Culture Iceberg” and aiming to help our students go “below the surface.” Part of this includes developing a definition of Global Citizenship. We currently have a draft definition:
We develop our curiosity about the world, extend our appreciation for diversity, engage in local and global communities, and affect positive change as balanced, self-aware, and respectful global citizens.
We are now working on expanding this definition and approach to include “Digital Citizenship,” which is a significant component of how we all engage in the world. Later in the term, we will be holding both parent and teacher sessions focused on Global Citizenship, our approach, and future plans. We look forward to engaging together to help our students grow as Global Citizens.
Finally, last semester CCS completed a thorough Indonesian National Re-Accreditation process. Over the holiday we received our results – High “A” grades across all programmes.
CCS is the only SPK in Bali to earn A grades across all year levels!
We are especially proud of our strong connections with local schools and thriving Indonesian Studies programme, both of which contribute to both global citizenship and this important national accreditation.

CCS is launching an Emergency/Essential Reminders Notification WhatsApp Group in the Primary Programme. You should have received an email and a Remind message this week. The prerequisite for parents to receive notifications from CCS is that you need to add the school’s phone number to your WhatsApp contact list and then message the number with your name, your child(ren) name(s), and class. Parents who choose not to set up CCS as a contact in their WhatsApp and message Ms. Deisy will not get these notification updates.
If you have any questions please see Ms. Deisy, Ms. Mega, or myself.
Enjoy your weekend,
Mr. Ben

Dear Parents
Hope you’ve had a great start to Term 3. We’re looking forward to meeting new and existing parents at the Coffee Morning this Friday 8.30am, in Cantina. There will be parent reps from the School Committee, FoCCS and Juara Alam (Sustainability Committee) to give an intro and updates from these committees. And then Pak Tom will be giving a tour of the new Primary campus. Exciting!
See you all on Friday, in the meantime you can learn more about these committees from these links: School Committee, FoCCS.
Best regards,
Adrian Keet
Parent & School Committee Chairperson

Year 1S was lucky to have an artist to join us to create Bamboo paintings. Fernando Leon, Inti’s dad, lead the Bamboo painting experience in Year 1S which is connected to our Unit of Inquiry on celebrations. With Chinese New Year coming up, this tied in nicely to the Celebrations Unit along with the Chinese Restaurant as a creative play space. Thank you Mr. Leon!

As we build towards the Year 6 showcase, we came together as a community to brainstorm ideas and interests that the pupils could research.
We discussed all the ‘conflicts’ that interest the pupils and who could help them discover more information. It was a good start to the process and we look forward to sharing the end product in Term 4. Thank you to all who came.
Professional Learning is an important focus on CCS. All of our education faculty engage in continuous professional development so we are constantly enhancing our students’ learning experiences. Some of our teachers and teacher assistants focused on orchestrating positive and practical behaviour plans. Next week, we will launch our Google Educator Certification training!
