CCS hosted a Zero Waste Event that included a talkshow with Siska Nirmala (writer of Zero Waste Adventure), and various workshops and booths related to living a zero waste lifestyle. CCS students also proudly presented their projects on waste management on stage during the talkshow – well done Bailey (Y13) and Maile (Y13) for inspiring others in the audience to also take action in the fight for sustainability.
The event aimed to encourage and support people along their zero waste journey, and to highlight that its more about being aware of our choices and taking steps, rather than reaching the ultimate (and perhaps impossible) goal of producing no waste at all.
We aim to follow-up on the event by kickstarting several Zero Waste initiatives in the months to come, working in close collaboration with CCS’s Sustainability Committee, Juara Alam. Stay tuned for updates and upcoming events. Also a big thank you to all CCS staff and students that helped to make this event happen!
Talkshow with Siska Narmala, writer of Zero Waste Adventure and climber of five Indonesian mountains without producing a single piece of waste.
Bailey (Y13) and Maile (Y13) on-stage with Sylvia from Zero Waste Bali sharing why Zero Waste is important and everyone is responsible. CCS Gotong Royong groups, EcoBricks and Bakery Cycling also had a booth to share with guests in more detail about their projects.
Workshops ranged from kombucha making, to DIY beauty products, to vegan cooking, and coaching.
Booths sold tasty treats, zero waste products, and even had a suggestion box for how to make CCS as zero waste as possible.
