The Book Week Team is excited to announce that planning for one of the most thrilling weeks of the academic school year is already underway! This year, we will be celebrating all things literary April 22nd – 26th. How can you start preparing for it?
“Extreme Readers” Photo Contest: Take a photo in an extreme location! Reading ‘extreme’ can sometimes mean you’re doing so while hiking a mountain in Borneo; other times it can mean you’re reading your favourite new book while hanging upside down in your own backyard. Wherever you’re reading leading up to Book Week, make sure to snap a photo of it and submit it to the Book Week team for a chance to win! Deadline for submissions will be prior to Book Week, voting and winner announcements will take place during Book Week – more details will be provided soon.
Periplus Book Fair: This will be held in the library, and will feature books for primary and secondary. Some of the proceeds from the book fair go towards buying new books for the library.
Literary Dress-Up Day – Friday, April 26: Dress up as your favourite book character, or based on your favourite author, word, quote poem, etc – the possibilities are endless! If you’re struggling for ideas for a costume, come chat with one of the library team members!
Door Decorating Contest: This is a whole school contest. Students decorate the door of their homeroom or PC group based on a literary theme of their choosing. Speak with your kids at home about how they’d like their classroom door decorated for this occasion!
