Borneo Initiatives Youth Camp (BIYC)
August 30th – September 1st, 2019
Dear CCS Parents,
Borneo Initiatives Youth Camp (BIYC 2019) is an activity that brings together young people (13 to 17 years old) from across Asia to share ideas and create practical solutions for global issues.
CCS has received an invitation for BIYC 2019, organised by Borneo Nature Foundation and Bina Cita Utama School in Rungan Sari, a residential community located in the Central Kalimantan province (Borneo), where students discuss, innovate and take action for the global issues that they care about. This is both an exciting and highly valued opportunity for our students.
We are not sure which company we will fly with, but we expect either Citilink. We will let you know the date (departure date will probably be Thursday 29 August) and time when we get the tickets at the end of June. As for the accommodation, we will stay either at Rungan Sari Resort or Eco Village, which meets all of our criteria: safe, clean, conveniently located and reasonably priced.
Year 8 and up students are eligible to apply to participate. As their participation depends on the number of applications, we will reimburse the 3 million down-payment should there not be the minimum number of students for the trip.
A trip of this type requires additional funds. The current estimate is based on five students attending, but the trip may be cheaper when final attendance is confirmed. We may also complete fundraising to assist with the costs.
If your son or daughter is committed to this, please make a payment of IDR 3 million to the School Shop by Monday, June 10th. Please quote “BIYC2019”. Please also ensure attached forms are returned to either Ms. Johnson or Mr. Javier. It is important to secure cheap flights and hotel reservations at the corporate rate so should your child be interested please make the payment at your earliest convenient time.
Please refer to the table below for our (approximate) costs per person:
|Total: Approximately 11, 500, 000.|
The estimated fee also includes:
- Transportation to and from the airport in Kalimantan.
- Transportation to the conference.
- All meals for three days.
- All Youth Camp activities, lunch, evening performances, goody bag, and t-shirt.
- A certificate of participation.
Please note that once airline tickets and hotel reservations are made, the deposit is non-refundable. Also, if your payment is made after the deadline, you may incur a higher price.
